Timing cover oil leaks - 70k miles -2016 lexus Rx350

Hello Scotty;

Went to my 70k miles service and they(my lexus dealership ) told me that I have a minimal oil leaking from front timing cover and said they gonna monitor it during my next service visits. Any way they told me it going to cost me near 3,500$

I haven’t skipped a service before and yet that happened!

everything else runs smoothly.

My question is : Does it worth spending that money and keep it OR should I sell the car.

best regards

Moe

First off, never go to a stealership esp. once the vehicle is out of warranty.  You can’t trust what any of them say and plus they charge a lot.   Second, how do you know there is an oil leak in the first place?  Do you have photos and/or did you see with your own eyes?  I would definitely have an independent mechanic (one that is trustworthy) verify.  Thirdly, if the leak is real, is it a tiny seepage?  Even with a tiny seepage you can usually keep an eye on it and live with it for a while.

They showed me the leak during the service and I found few drops in my garage floor.
