Hey Scotty I have a 2016 Ford Focus S, with the 2.0 litre and 6 speed automatic trans. it had 32,000 miles when I got it, and it now has close to 50,000 miles on it. So far I've had no problems with it. oils been changed regularly, However I hear bad things about Ford's powershift transmission. Should I be concerned? Also ford says the transmission fluid is lifetime. I haven't changed the transmission fluid, but I hear people changing it every 30,000 or 50,000 miles. Whats your experience with these kinda engines and transmissions? Am I doomed? Thanks Scotty.

Those transmissions are a bad design that Ford knew was bad when they were sold. Per our resident transmission guy @dan, they are really only suitable for very tiny cars and engines. There was a class action lawsuit and settlement, however the time for filing a claim is past. You are fortunate in not having had any problems so far but it would be a good idea to get rid of the car before you do and replace it with something less problematical.

Thank you very much for your advice I appreciate it, do you know of any that have lasted with high mileage? Also sorry I’m new to this forum I’m trying to figure out how to use this haha.

The few people I know who have cars equipped with that transmission continue to had problems develop in short order and the problems persist after multiple transmission replacements. It's unlikely that yours will last in a high mileage situation unless you are extremely lucky. Changing fluid regularly may increase your chances.

Really you're better off unloading it while it's still working OK.

Oh I see ok, yeah you’re right sounds like the best option for me
I’ll see if I can look for another vehicle soon, probably a Toyota, thank you again
