Prius engine swap issue? Alignment Metal Dowel pin question.

I'm swapping out my Prius 1.8L engine with a newer engine that has 36K from a wrecked Prius. (My old engine has 243K and signs of head gasket death)

I attached an image just incase it's not called Alignment Metal Dowel pin. 🙂

The new engine has the alignment metal dowel pins in the engine. But when I pulled the old engine out of my Prius the same alignment metal dowel pins stayed in the transmission not the engine block.

Is there a way to remove the alignment metal dowel pins from my Prius transmission or the new engine without having to buy a $200 alignment dowel pin removal tool which I will use only ounce?

Maybe make a YouTube video on this issue. I'm sure! I'm not the only person with this problem swapping engines or transmissions.

Thank you in advance.

You can rent a puller at the parts store or carefully pull them with vice grips.

Haven't tried it got my dowel pins out with a puller.

An old mechanic at my church I was talking to told me all you have to do to get the transmission solid metal dowels pins out is.

Spray with wd40 then turn them with vice grips. When you get it turning then hit the pin lightly with a hammer turn the pin and keep doing this until you tapped every side of the pin. Spray with wd40.

And then put the vice grips back on keep turning and wiggling the pin and it will work it's self out easily.
