Are 2003 chevy astro vans reliable? Are they prone to oil leaks transmission leaks?

The 4.3 engine is fine just don't expect great gas mileage.
At that age it's going to depend on how the previous owners cared for it. Have a good mechanic give it a going over prior to purchase.

They are prone to oil cooler line leaks, and intake gasket leaks. Neither of which is a big deal if you're handy.
I wouldn't call a 20 year old vehicle "reliable".
