1994 Chevy Camaro coupe 3.4L
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT.... it changes how it runs and smells like exhaust and rpm stays slow till I get to a high enough speed then it goes higher. it's not a smooth acceleration It also gets loud and vibrates a little more. Doesn't happen every time just when light comes on or about to.
There is no catalytic converter.

Well on that old thing the service engine light serves as the check engine light. So you need to get the codes out. When that light is on it will have some code numbers and then you have to analyze the codes to see what's wrong. They are relatively generic code so it can get very complicated. And since it's so old it's OBD1. So you're either going to have to get a book and learn how to read the code yourself or pay a mechanic with something like an old snap-on brick scanner that can get some basic information out of that old system
