Because I live in Scandinavia and never owned Japanese car I have a chance to swap my '98 VW Passat B5 diesel (110hp one) for Toyota Avensis '04 116hp manual transmission 330000km with timing belt. I love to get little insight of this car (Pros and Cons). Is the engine reliable. Also previous owner been driving it for 10 years now without any problems. Probably needs glow plug change. Previous owner just did timing belt change and have always used OEM Toyota 5w30 oil and changed oil every 15000km. Does not burn any oil. Getting it cheap but never owned a Japanese car so love to get little info about it.
Well they are very well made vehicles. Hopefully the previous owner or owners took care of it. But I'd never take a chance. If I were you you need to find a guy like me to check it out a good mechanic before you buy. Cuz you can't trust the past, you have to really get a vehicle checked out correctly when you're buying it used with that kind of mileage on it
