[Solved] Quick heat with gas on neutral

The other day it was freezing. All windows frost. So I entered the car freezing and fired the engine. It was heating too slow. I decided to switch to neutral and pump gas pedal up to 4000 rpm for few minutes. The idea is to force heat generation through the AC on idle. Am I doing it right ?

Why did you ask a question here again? You had your mind made up before you posted that you were right.

Spoke my mind!

Not a smart idea. It results in uneven temperature distribution (especially in the exhaust system). The best way is to run the car idle (at normal RPM) for a longer time or start driving it until the temperature goes up.

You asked a question, I answered truthfully.  I can't help that it isn't what you want to hear.

Maybe wake up earlier?

In short: No. You're not.

It is best to let it warm up on it's own so that you don't put excessive strain on any internal components of the motor or transmission.

I get you want to warm up fast, but imagine if someone came in your bedroom, yanked you out of bed, and made you do push ups as fast as possible without stretching for a few minutes. Even if you don't pull a muscle, you still aren't going to be happy. Same idea.

Thanks a bunch. Tell that to my boss when I ran late to punch in. I rather step on the gas to generate heat quick. It is combustion after all no ?

So what's wrong with giving in some gas to warmer it up ? can't overheat it.

You need heat you need combustion. Those engines are designed to take it. These engines cant be stressed by heat they are designed to stress it. and can take much more than than.

I say is safe to pump gas on neutral to accelerate heating. Nothing wrong with that. Dont scare engines with heat. They are made to withstand tremendous heat

If you are in freezing conditions the engine can save your life. It wont get broken on idle. Peoples even say to warm up the engine in cold because engines like hot. The oil inside it is like blood.
