Scotty. I have heard you say in your videos. To not keep something in you OBD port. However the active fuel managment in my 18 corvette that knocks it down to 4 cylinder mode. I have heard its very bad for the engine. This device keeps it in 8 cylinder mode always.Whats your thought?
Find a shop that can disable the AFM by tuning the car.
Get it tuned to turn off the AFM.
I would disable the AFM at all costs.
Is your C7 Vette still under warranty? If it’s out of warranty (and this goes for any older GM product that uses AFM), the best option is to tune it out using HPTuners software. A good performance shop can easily do this, probably not even 30 minutes worth of time.
See below for how to do it:

If you are under warranty, then I would just use the Range Disabler device plugged in. Plenty of folks on the Corvette Forum use it and have been driving with it plugged in for years - I haven’t seen any issues reported on that forum from it being plugged in.
Once it’s out of warranty, then definitely go the HPTuners route.
the device has some downsides which you should be aware of. You can't coast or something like that. Search the forum for details.
My bro simply downshifts to prevent AFM activation. (I think it only activates in top gear right?)
