Hey there, my name is Eric I have a 2018 Honda accord sport 2.0 T. I have the 10 speed automatic of course. I’m a huge gearhead and nice to meet - I’ve seen your videos you’re great! My car has 63,800 miles on it now. It’s about almost 4 years old, the maintenance indicator on my dashboard came on for transmission fluid flush. My service technician at my local Honda dealership in my town said that the 10 speed automatic transmissions from Honda bulletproof versus the 1.5 L accord sports with the CVT transmission. he says that I shouldn’t have to worry about it till around 92,000 miles or so. I’m also planning to trade my car in in about 2 1/2 years when it’s got around 90,000 miles on it or so. Just wanted to ask you the same question quickly. Mostly I don’t want to do the transmission fluid flush because I don’t think my car needs it. It runs fine, and it’s over $300 for a flush where I could use that money from my family. Really the only thing that the garage tech last time told me is that due to my brake regulator module box, my front brake pads are absolutely fine. My rear brake pads will be needing replaced after the summer that’s about it though. I appreciate any help! {black}:hi:
Do not flush. Simply replace the fluid and filter around every 30-50K miles.
I don’t think my car needs it. It runs fine,
Do you still change your engine oil if the car runs fine?
If you wait until you notice problems to replace your transmission fluid , then it's too late. It's permanently damaged.
Replace the fluid every 50-60k

Don't buy a car if you can't afford the maintenance.
Usually you don't need to do any flushing. Just drain it out and refill it. Better yet learn to do it yourself and it'll only cost you $100.
what’s the difference between a fluid flush, and simply replacing the fluid and the filter
You can read all about it in our Frequently Asked Questions.
You now mentioned a dealer and they lie to make money. They want your transmission to fail so they can charge you a lot of money. The flush will many times remove friction particles that are allowing the trans to work in the first place. Fluid and filter only at 30-50K miles.
They said I have to have it fi eat my Honda dealership because they use special fluid.
There's a sticker right on the transmission that tells you what needs to go in. All you have to do is go out and buy it.

let me ask you then what’s the difference between a fluid flush, and simply replacing the fluid and the filter.
A flush uses an external pump to force the new fluid in and the old fluid out. This can damage your transmission.
Replacing the fluid and filter via simple drain and refill does not subject the transmission to the strain of external pressure. (A fluid exchange that uses the transmission's own internal pump is also OK.)
If you are unable to do this yourself the best place for this service would be a good independent mechanic - NOT a dealer and NOT a chain shop. (Don't take the car to Pep Boys, Firestone, Midas, etc., or a quick-lube joint.)
The idea of "lifetime" transmission fluid, or even fluid that lasts 90K miles or more, is pure fiction.
let me ask you then what’s the difference between a fluid flush, and simply replacing the fluid and the filter. I’m confused. because I called up a transmission shop Midas in my town and I think I described the wrong issue to them. they said oh you need to go to a certified Honda dealership for this yada yada yada so I am just very confused about this. Then I have the service tech I work with at my local on dealership saying that the 2. 0T accords don’t require this at all until about 90,000 miles. So you can understand how confusing this is from me. 😂

maybe I’m describing this issue incorrectly to Honda or to Midas. They said I have to have it fi eat my Honda dealership because they use special fluid. Again, I do not know who to believe. That’s my frustration.
Don't believe a Honda dealer or Midas.
