Battery Dies after car sits for a while

Hey Scotty, I have a 2016 Dodge Charger 392 that I only drive on the weekends. It has about 10,000 miles on it. Recently, the car sits for about 3-4 weeks and when I go to start it the battery is dead. Is this normal or do I have another problem? I got a NOCO battery charger and maintainer so I'm waiting for it to charge as I type this - maybe I should just leave it on there? Please advise.

No, this isn't normal. Check the age of the battery before you look for possible drains. It'll be a month and year on a sticker that's on the side of the battery. It'll say something like 04/21, April 2021. That's the date of manufacture for my Catalina's battery. With such low mileage, it's likely the original battery and is sulfated from lack of use.

Load test the battery and alternator then check Scotty's videos on Parasitic Drain under FAQ.

try unhooking the battery when not in use.

If it still goes dead then the battery is bad.

If it does NOT go dead, then something in the car is draining it.

Do you have any aftermarket stuff or accessories plugged in? chargers, dash cameras, alarms, etc.
