If you had 80,000 dollars burning a hole in your pocket, which car would you get to go exploring with? I think either a Raptor or a Land Cruiser. What do you think?
Of those two and brand new, I’d definitely go with a Toyota Land Cruiser, and since it will be discontinued it will retain its value (more so).
In that senerio I would go with the Land Cruiser.
Funny question. They are both excellent off road, though in different ways (Raptor is more of a Baja bomber, whereas the LC is more of an overland rig). And they both suffer from being "halo" vehicles, more status symbol than off-road appliance. They're too expensive to spend very much time in the dirt. Both are like they say about Land Rovers: "They won't go off-road until the 3rd owner."
Anyway, it's apples and oranges enough that I doubt many people are cross-shopping the 2 of them.
Get yourself a pilot’s licence & go exploring with $80,000..

They're both huge money pits to maintain, but if it were me I would go with the ford raptor. I would never spend above 40k on a car even if I was rich. I would rather buy my whole family cars than get myself a really expensive car that I don't need. I honestly would just get a used 2015 lexus gx460 and pay only $25k instead of a new land cruiser.
The Land Cruiser being a ‘huge money pit’ is news to me..
Maybe a qualified statement: the repairs that you will never need to make are very expensive.

Crazy, I had a raptor for about a year and lemon-lawed it down here in Florida. I even took it once to Moab. Worst car I’ve ever owned, but I can’t make my mind up now to either get the new one or the heritage Land Cruiser. Trying to see what the public opinion is!
Wouldn't spend 80k on any vehicle. I'd rather go traveling, once the world opens up again. But on to the question. Depends on the type of "off-roading". while both capable. The Raptor is designed and built for more serious off-roading. Wouldn't bring the LC to the same places as the Raptor.
If I have to choose, I will probably get the Raptor for the best off-road experience. The Land Cruiser is good at reliability, but it can go some places that people normally go for off-roading. I will probably spend $80,000 on traveling somewhere. My family and I are not the type of people who goes off-roading.
I'd get the Raptor. Yes, it is a waste of money. Yes, it is a Ford and will break. But this is a hypothetical question and if I wanted to go crazy off road it would be my choice. The Land Cruiser was built for light offroading in the countryside. The Raptor was built to create absolute havoc in said countryside.
