My 87 Nissan D21 Hardbody z24i with manual transmission(237,000mi). I recently replaced the exhaust manifold due to previous owner trying to weld cast iron. Few weeks after driving I noticed in cold start there is ticking it usually goes away after warming it up and it comes back under acceleration. When I just rev the engine it doesn't make the noise only when accelerating. Checked hardware, pipes, and clamps and there all tight, not sure what else can be??

Several reasons for "ticking sounds", from valves to low engine oil.
Among those reasons is a small leak getting past the exhaust manifold gasket.
Maybe re-torque those nuts just to be sure
I put new gasket in but I'll do a re-torque on the head
