The FAQs under 'Troubleshooting' has a section devoted to finding noises. Often helps to simply have someone ride along with you and listen, might further pinpoint the location.
Thanks for the response. The mechanic did drive alone with me and hear the noise himself, before he began his inspection assisted by his brother. It's while he was under and the brother was revving the car he heard it again and said was the transmission and decided to change the transmission fluid and filter (he said it could be a clog on the filter)
Check either the power steering pump and/or the alternator. I assume they may need a check up if it is coming from there.
I'll mention it to the mechanic, he said it wasn't the alternator. However I'll still bring it across to him
