Hello all;
I've a pretty good working Toyota RAV4 (2009) w/ 1,76000 miles on it. Its resale value is about $3000 to $3500.
I get a brief vibrating and brrp brrp sound at 150000 rpms to 20000 rpms. Not always but often. Only at those rpms, though. Once above 20000 rpm the car runs amazing.
Toyota said it's torque converter gone bad but other transmission place said I'd have to replace the whole transmission. So far there's no Check Engine light for it. It would cost me +/- $4500.
What do u guys suggest?
Spend that chunk of money or just use the car as it is for 3-4 years without getting any work done on transmission/torque converter.
thanks again,
150000 rpms

You are basically stuck between a rock and a hard place. If you drive that way, you may shot your transmission.
How much does the dealer want for changing the torque converter and how many years of warranty?
Thanks for reply. Toyota svc center wants $4890 for torque converter. Almost same if I go to another transmission place. Dunno abt warranty.
