Hi scot. I have Rav4 1998 model 3s sxa 16 that is  in good shape. However the engine is getting old.I would like to buy a new engine for it. Is this a worth it or I consider buying new car.

Clarification: What is the mileage?

115,000 km. Thanks

How many miles on the car? How does the rest of the car look like? With this market, you better keep the car as long as possible.

Thanks.

Are you having issues with the current motor? If not, I would drive it until it gives out and then have this conversation.

Thanks

If there is nothing currently wrong with the engine it seems like a waste.

If it’s driving fine and you have no other (major) issues with the vehicle, then keep driving it.  Don’t worry about a new engine, just continue to stay on top of engine oil and transmission fluid changes, and don’t drive like a maniac.  If you truly have no issues, just keep on trucking, as they say.

Noted. thanks

Keep it until you actually need a new engine.  When that happens, you can get a rebuilt engine with a warranty from ATK (through NAPA) or Jasper or a number of others.  If you do that, you'll have at least another 100K miles at less than 10% the cost of a new car.

Thanks.
