hey Scotty,
Ever since I bought my 2018 RAV4 (38k miles)I have felt some vibrations from the center console. I brought it to two separate dealers and they tested it (scanned the transmission and engine) nothing.
but I have narrowed it down even further.
here is the problem.
At a sustained speed and at 1800 RPM the center console vibrates and sometime makes an audible noise as well. Does this anytime the car is at 1800 RPM and under 60 mph.
what could it be? I was thinking torque converter but was told by service guy that 18 RAV4 don’t have the torque converter lock up problem.
thanks Scotty
It might be a loose exhaust piece.
Can you post a video to Youtube?
It would be really hard to tell on audio as it only produces a slight noise. The real noticeable result is the feeling from my elbow at the center console anytime the rpms are at a sustained 1800
Worst part is that since it’s under warranty (which in a world where if warranties actually warrantied things instead of just giving a fake sense of security) it isn’t something the dealers I have been to so far want to touch. They scan this and that but when it comes to an actual test drive “nothing shows up”
Is this an AWD or 2WD Rav4?
AWD
I don’t know what a U-joint is, but I recall reading something about a U-joint going bad in my random readings of this generation RAV4.
That's what I was thinking since the driveshaft sits under the center console.
Which if it is, would be covered under warranty but also probably wouldn’t trip a code. Now the question is, what service department will be willing to follow that hunch?
