My friend told me he is going to be working on making his first project car. He need help with engine swap and want recommendation which engine should he buy
He is looking for v6 or v8
He is using old ford mustang . But the problem is everything has been torn a part and were broken. I told him get mustang gtr 500 instead but he said no
But he got the body for free from dealership they were just trying to get rid of it for years.

Which engine depends on how fast you want to go and how much you want to spend.
It is a V6 now, so to go back with the 3.8L would be super simple and cheap. Looking at maybe $3000 or so to install a decent motor.
If you want to move to a 4.6L 2V V8 from the GT, it is more involved but still not that bad. Some wiring harness changes, ABS module swap out, etc. but it could be done for say less than $10k.
Now if you want to do what I would do and maximize your power options, I'd swap in a supercharged 4.6L 32V V8 out of the 03 - 04 Cobras. Of course, this requires quite a bit of changes to everything as well as a new transmission. This is more a $20k+ job excluding any cosmetics/body work/paint etc. the car needs.
It is all in what you want and how deep your pockets are.
The YouTube mechanic who basically takes old shells of cars (such as a 1979 Ford Fairmount) and completely refits the engines, transmission, suspension, etc is EricTheCarGuy. Here's a video of his work on that Fairmount.
