I bought 2012 mini cooper S Countryman all4 in April of this year with 75,000 miles. I am using Mobil1 0W-30 advanced fuel economy with Mobil high end filter. Would you recommend any other oil for this turbo 1.6L motor with automatic 6 speed transmission. This is my 1st non-American vehicle anything i should look for and what are good maintenance routines for this vehicle. I grew up with a Mopar mechanic who is my father so i do a lot of my own maintenance. Looking for good tools to have for this vehicle and my sons which is a 2012 mini Cooper S Clubman 1.6L turbo manual with 45,000 miles. We bought them both this spring from Carvana my sons motor is going thru oil and no leak. his car is under warranty and the shop found no leak. The valve cover on both has been replaced at dealership the clubman had coils and wires and plugs replaced this spring. The clubman has small coolant leak at water pump waiting for parts to come in. What could be causing oil loss 3 quarts have been replaced, We both drive these cars pretty fast at times so f {black} un to drive, Thanks Phil
To answer your original question, page 145 of your owner's manual says you can use any of the following weight oils -
0w-30, 0w-40, 5w-40 and 5w-30 as long as they are rated API SM or higher.
Start by reading your owner's manual. 20 bucks says you haven't.
If you had in fact read your owner's manual as you rudely indicated on your comment, why are you asking on this forum about using another kind of oil if you can just look it up in your owner's manual?
you may want to try less confrontational methods of offering help 😉
Thanks, Joe, something just comes over me.
