Hello my name is Luis Gonzalez hope you are well, I had a quick question, So I have a Chevy Malibu 2011 LS 2.4 with 104,000 miles on it, I just recently bought it with 97,000 miles, but I am unsure if its ever had a transmission fluid change should I still change my fluid or how should I approach my car with maintenance.

Hello Luis,

With your current mileage, I would change it now before it's too late-drain and refill but no flush. In terms of maintenance- you won't need another transmission fluid change until 150k miles.

Does it require a transmission filter as well or do I just drain and refill the transmission.

Get a new filter too.

Simple drain/fill. Do not flush.

Your probably right.  Newer vehicles don't seem to have half as many serviceable zerk grease fittings as they used to.

Yes and also save the old fluid to be on the safe side.

I would do ALL the other fluids and grease too.

a car like that is likely to have all sealed fittings.

I have the same issue. I bought a 2005 Toyota Sienna with 100,000 miles and quite a few have told me to change the fluid because Toyotas have a good transmission and the previous owner didn't drive it too much but never changed it. I called a professional transmission shop that's been around 3o years and he told me to just leave it alone. I'm surprised because most shops want you to come in so that they can make money. What should I do?
