Weird starting on my 2015 F150?

I just recently bought a 2015 F150 5.0L with the 6 speed automatic with 95,000 miles. I absolutely love the truck but after about three weeks of owning it it is having longer crank times and every once and awhile when I crank it it cranks twice then stops then cranks twice again even while holding the key to turn the engine over. After it does that I turn back the key to accessories then crank again usually starts after that. After it does that weird crank a light pops up saying check owner’s manual with a orange wrench light. But drives perfectly fine. I live in Utah and it is getting warmer, had 85 octane fuel now running 87. Any one experience this already? Thank you

So what does the owner’s manual say?

How old is the battery, and have you had it (and the alternator) load tested?

Any DTCs?

The owners manual says it is a power train or 4x4 fault. Looks like the battery was made in 12/20. Haven’t had battery load tested yet. Just had a basic scan no trouble codes that could be seen.

Once engine is shut off and get back in the light goes off

Check the battery terminals for corrosion and loose connections. The fact that it drives normally, makes me suspect a bad battery, bad wiring to/from the starter, or the starter itself.

Battery terminals are clean, battery load tested, it is good, the negative terminal cable was slightly loose so I tightened it , I checked the resistance in the negative wire and it was good. I will see if tightening the negative wire helps, thanks. If not starter or wiring could it be fuel filter, purge valve, Mass airflow sensor or something else with the intake system? Thanks

If you jump start it, does the cranking still stop with the key turned? Yeah, change the fuel filter & pressure test the fuel pump. Also, you can try a new starter relay - https://fuse-box.info/ford/ford-f-150-2015-2018-fuses-and-relay
Yes long cranking could also be due to a bad MAF sensor, but it shouldn’t cause the starter to stop cranking midway.
