Start temperature
1996 chevy lumina 3.1 L. Bought in June, 2015 with 67k. Added new intake and head gaskets. No rust anywhere. Runs smooth no oil use between changes. 30 mpg hwy. Nov, 2023 has 145k.
Issue.
Cold start summer and winter are fine.
Warm engine / warm temps (summer) starts fine.
Warm engine / cold temps (winter) hard start without depressing gas pedal.

Why does cold weather with warm engine cause hard start.

It was a bad fuel pressure regulator.
Changing the fpr also cured my constant PO1441 code which is EVAP / VACUUM LEAK. Must be the bad vacuum in the fpr threw vacuum code. Starts fine now.

Well, the engine could be flooded out in which case it would crank crank crank and not start until it unfolded itself. That would be from leaking fuel injectors or bad data from the computer to add too much gasoline to a warm engine. But if it doesn't really crank over correctly or doesn't crank it all, that means your starter is starting to go out
