Not exactly sure what to call this part of a new o2 pre cat oxygen sensor but it has me grinding my teeth...
Its not an attention post to the profile but there isnt an image attachment sorry in advance.
Yes im aware the used part is a post can sensor, discovered after i removed it as bank 1 is fairly hidden but it is removed now via a 22mm o2 socket attachment.

Any advice?
I cant tell if this is a spacer, supposed to be removed or what as the image when i bought it doesnt have it on there so its just boggled me sideways

I think its just a heat shield and thats all.

It looks like a heat shield. It probably protects the wire insulation.
