Hi Good Day, I have a renault megane 2 auto ,its stuck on the fast gear, the dashboard keeps saying check gearbox, I am able to shift gears easily, but the car lack power when I press the gas pedal, and when it comes to climb a small hill it has no power.
Assistants will be highly anticipated
Kind Regards
Knowing the exact model year, engine size and what trouble codes it has would be helpful 🙂
The Renault Meganè 2 had possibly the worst automatic transmission I’ve ever encountered.
The Renault DP0 has so many different issues I do not know where to even start. Renault officially rated this gearbox to last 150,000km (90,000 miles) but they’re typically good until 200,000km (125,000 miles).
But before starting to repair the gearbox on this 12-19 year old car, I’d advise you to compression test the engine.
I personally had a 2001 Renault Meganè 1st generation and the K4M 1.6 Litter engine was loosing 20-30% compression (anything above 10% indicates an issue) with 270,000km (170,000 miles)
if the engine has lost compression this might be the cause of your issues, or it may be a reason not to repair the gearbox.
check your fluid level and color, if it’s low or dark, replace it although I doubt it will help it from slipping as much as it does.
Please post the DTC codes (if your car says “check auto gear…”) so I’ll be able to examine them and try to pinpoint the exact issue.
Diagnostic trouble codes
DF011 - rain/luminosity sensor circuit communication disrupted.
DF004- stop switch circuit
DF147- steering column lock safety circuit.
The first one is not related, that’s a sensor in the windscreen.
The second one is relayed to your break pedal.
Neither is the third related as that’s a failure of the steering system.
Maybe you need a special tool to read the codes from the transmission.
Well unfortunately they never sold them here in the United States so I've never worked on them and since they don't sell them here I can't even look them up on my data system. You're going to have to ask a European mechanic on that one
