Scotty, i just bough a Geely Binray 2020 which has 6 speed dual clutch transmission Brand new and 3 cylinder turbo engine from Volvo. I am just wondering, when to change the transmission oil? Because it is not mentioned in the car manual and the dealer also does not know please help. {black}:idontknow:
Hello there!
I’m not very familiar with Geely, but I am very familiar with Dual Clutch automatics used in Volvo 🙂.
The Volvo MPS6 dual clutch requires you to change it’s oil (according to the manual) every 35,000 miles (60,000km) but that’s often too much, most people change the oil every 25,000 miles (40,000km) (using 7.1 litters of Ford BO-DC fluid)
it’s a very nice transmission, with clutch packs often lasting over 120,000 miles when driven correctly.
many Geely models don’t use Volvo built automatic transmissions, and use Honda or Ford instead. In the case of those I advice you to change the oil every 50,000miles (80,000km) and much more frequently when the car starts to age.
Good luck and enjoy your shiny new ride 🙂
If you do a lot of city driving in hot & humid conditions, I’d advise you to change only (NOT flush) every 40,000kms/25,000 miles. If you do mainly highway driving, change it every 80,000kms/50,000 miles.
