About 8 years ago I inherited my great grandmother's 1981 Chevy Citation. Its automatic which is nice but what I quite like about it is its deceivingly large. I've hauled around all kinds of stuff. Another nice thing is its a front wheel drive (and automatic) which wasn't to common back then. Over the years I've worked on repairing/ restoring it (yes it was also my daily driver). It just rolled over 100k which for a 40 year old car isn't bad! I know that it isn't the best type of car around, but I love it and am know for it. Even with parts breaking it is still reliable. Sorry a lot of back round I know but I want you to understand why I don't just junk it (tranny needs rebuild atm).
As for the question, I have 2. 1 is is rockauto.com safe? I've been told by all the parts shops around me that the Idle Air Speed Motor doesn't exist for that car and never did. I can both see it and had a shop verify that my car does have it. Only place I have been able to find it is that website so I wanted to make sure that it is safe/ reliable. My car runs without it but idles kind of rough. 4 cyl Iron Duke engine
2. Need a new dash or a way to repair the one that is already in place. Its cracked and looks like it survived a slasher film. I haven't tried to remove it for fear of it falling apart. I understand that the cracks are something that comes with age of any car but not sure of how to fix.

Rock Auto is absolutely a fantastic site to purchase quality parts from. Rock Auto is a wholesaler, and does not actually have any stock. Instead they have deals with auto parts suppliers to get the best price for OEM and aftermarket parts.
Generally that site sells decent parts and of course they have to warranty them ask for the dash if it's all cracked see if you can Google it and find a replacement – cover that you can silicone glue over the old ugly one

The man the mith the legend! When I watched your vid about needing help I figured I'd get some from someone, but didn't think Id get an answer directly from the man himself! Thank you! Side note will the cover once glued on hold the dash together for removal?
Rock Auto is absolutely a safe and reliable source for many car parts. Not sure about an old X car though. You might have better luck finding some parts (like a dashboard) for a Citation on eBay. I buy a lot of parts from Amazon also both because they're often as cheap as Rock (when you include shipping) and deliver very quickly if you have Amazon Prime.

Sweet. I looked few months back and they had all kinds of parts for my car. Was actually kind of surprised. I've found the bumper on there, but the only thing dash related I've found is covers. Thanks!
I've bought quite a bit from Rockauto over the years and you can get really good deals on closeouts from time to time for older vehicles. Keep an eye on shipping costs though, those can quickly eat up savings. It helps to select as many parts as possible to ship from the same warehouse.
