2007 Lexus GS450h 170k miles
Replace Bad Hybrid Battery Pack code. Car still runs and has been running for weeks. Do I need to replace the battery or could I drive the vehicle with only gasoline from now on. Is it safe to do so? Is it worth fixing?
There was a Judge Judy episode where someone was suing the person they bought an old used Prius from because it stopped running when its hybrid battery went completely dead shortly after the sale. It would not surprise me if the same thing happened when your Lexus battery gets bad enough, but I don't know for sure.
Whether it's worth replacing depends on the cost of the battery versus what the vehicle is worth, and keeping in mind the possibility of other expensive repairs down the road such as the generator going bad which costs several thousand dollars to repair.
@chucktobias yes, we bought the car and shortly after the hybrid battery gave out. I was just wondering if it was safe to keep driving it that way. It still runs. It has power. No other issues besides the battery replacement codes
