Replace Toyota plastic oil canister with Aluminum one?

Topic starter

Just changed my Highlander oil for the first time and realized the plastic seems really flimsy.  There are plenty of a/m metal replacements as well as Toyota metal replacements. Has anyone updated their plastic one? Any issues? Thanks !

There is a company called Baxter that makes metal oil adapter for Toyota. I think Scotty liked their product in one of his videos.

If it fits correctly then I would replace it.

What's an oil canister?

Something only on new Toyota's?

Oil filter housing.

@mittegag, also found on old Toyotas. One of my more memorable early experiences was helping a friend change oil and filter on his 1969 Toyota Corona which had a canister/cartridge type filter accessed from underneath the car. I wound up with a face full of dirty old oil (fortunately not hot). Back then at least the canisters were metal.
