Replacement Parts: Rustproof before install?

I'm going to be replacing the front control arms w/ball joints on my car as they're squeaking like mad on bumps and the rust around the edges crumbles off in your hand.  I'm using brand new parts and there's no issues with the paint on them, but would it make sense to treat them with rust-proofing spray/paint before I install? Obviously I'd take care to avoid the non metal parts. Would it make sense to do the same with the tie rods that came with the control arms?

New England winters/salted roads apply.

Nah those are moving parts anyways they're coated pretty well the way they're made your main thing is you should rinse the car off a lot find a heated garage in the winter to get the salt off of it

That's the dream. Street parking is unfortunately my only option. I haven't treated the underside at all but given the buying market I want to make sure it lasts at least until things settle down.
