I’m replacing the oil burning engine (bad piston rings) in a 2008 Toyota Rav4 w/140,000 miles on it. My options are a 2AZFE engine from a junkyard with 85K miles or whatever i can find. My question: Can i replace a 2AZFE engine with a 2009 Rav4’s 2ARFE engine? Would that get around the oil consumption issue? Any issues i might run into?
Well I've never seen anyone do that so I couldn't say from experience they're both four cylinder engines if they fit in you'd always be taking a gamble cuz who knows if the software and hardware of a slightly different engine is going to mesh that's the problem when guys buy these Japanese engines from Japan and then when they try to put them in American cars they don't often work perfectly because the software is different and they have different sensors too sometimes
