Im recently in the market for a new used car. My budget is between 12 to 15 grand.  Ive been scanning fakebook marketplace here in phoenix. It seems like a ton of these cars are being sold with restored salvage title. I realize that means the thing was totaled at some point, but what does it mean restored. is that just some non sense or would you all consider it a restored salvage title a good thing.  thanks in advance  and thanks for letting me in the forum..will be here looking around for more useful tips,as Im by no means overly knowledgeable in the field

Avoid them. You don't know what happened to the car and how it was fixed. Considering the complexity of the modern cars, it is not worth getting them even if it the best deal on the earth.

Depends on your state as to the true meaning of "salvage" or "reconditioned" vehicles. https://azdot.gov/motor-vehicles/faq-motor-vehicle-division/vehicle-services-faq/vehicle-inspections-and-salvage.

Something as simple as a shattered windshield and windows on an old car may result in the car having been totaled. The value of the car is less than the windshield and window replacement cost. Someone with knowledge of the vehicle could have replaced the windows and glass, for example. Hail damage that dented pretty much every body panel can result in a salvage title on brand new vehicles. It's ugly, but still drives fine. Unless you're looking at a car that has obvious hail damage like I just described, walk away. Too many folks out there are eager to scam with wrecked, flooded vehicles that should have ended up in the local recycling center, not back on the road.

Welcome new member. Take a look in the search bar above. Lots of stuff in the archives about salvage titles.
