My 2013 Toyota Tacoma 4wd 6cylinder has developed a rough idle and hesitation when starting from a stop when the engine has not reached warmed up temperature. Runs fine when warmed up. The truck has 217,000 miles and is new to me. I had it checked before buying. Any suggestions?
Do you have a check engine light? One place you could start looking is your idle air control valve. Its typically integrated into the throttle body of the vehicle and it circulates coolant through it for several reasons but mainly to "smooth out" the idle during cold starts. Does the car idle hunt? In automotive terms this means the car slightly bounced the revs until it warms up. Check the RPM gauge to see if your idle is hunting and if you have any codes and report back.
Check engine light is not on when this happens. It does not idle hunt. I’ll check the other suggestions and let you know. Thanks
