Scotty, huge fan! I have a newly acquired 97 gmc Sonoma 4.3l v6 198k bought the truck for the farm. Recently started the truck (cold) it turned over for about a 2-3 seconds then a huge thud. The starter didn’t wanna turn over when I tried again. After several starter bumps it freed up and started to run but extremely rough then about 30 seconds it cleared up and ran fine. This has never happened before Any idea what happened? Thanks for all you do!
Well pray that you're just going to need a new starter or your battery or wiring is weak and not internal engine problems. Being that old often the engines will start to wear out and if that was the beginning of the engine locking up soon at some point in time the engine will stop running and you won't be able to turn it over even with the long extension bar and socket on the crank then you would know the engine is locked up
