Rpms not coming back down.

I recently bought a 2016 veloster turbo and when I'm in the middle of traffic and press the gas slightly the rpms go up to around 2k and don't come back down unless I shift into neutral. Anyone know what could be the problem?

Is the car a Manual or Automatic.
