Does anyone have experience with car batteries sold by Rural King? Supposedly, they are made by Exide but the prices are quite low compared to other retailers.

Most likely they are ok. Like you say, most house brand batteries are produced by the same companies (like Exide, and maybe Johnson Controls).
For batteries, age is as important as brand. Check the manufacturers date and make sure it hasn’t been sitting too long (like over a year).
