Where can I learn to decipher scanner tool data?

Hi Scotty,

I recently purchased a Launch CR529 OBDII scanner. I like it but would like to know all the data I am looking at and what it means. I have a 2011 Honda CR-V EX. Do you have any videos that explain all the data points and what they mean? Air Fuel mixture percentage, etc.

Thank you very much. I try to watch your videos daily and have learned a lot. I just replaced my own oil and transmission fluid a couple of weeks ago and I am getting 5 more MPG since then. Thanks for the videos and keep them coming.

Regards,

explain all the data points

Sorry but that can't be taught in an internet post. That is a course and textbook worth of material, so maybe you should start out small.

The ideal air/fuel mixture is 14.7 parts air , to one part fuel.

maybe if you mention one or two parameters we can can give you a few tidbits to get started.

Are you having any actual issues with your car?

Alternatively, you can google what each parameter means and try that step by step approach.

If you want a mechanic’s level of understanding, you may have to attend a full time course or buy a few books.

Thank you for your reply,

My vehicle does not have any errors. But my scanner does show many of the items Scotty looks at in his videos.

I just wanted to understand the data and check to see for example if my fuel/air mixture was OK and adjusted correctly. That's the sort of info I was looking for. However, in Scotty's latest video he showed a book that I am thinking of getting when my next SS check arrives next month. "How to use Automotive Diagnostics Scanner" by Tracy Martin.

So that was very cool to see shortly after I posed this question.

Thanks again guys,

Gene
