Hello, I am looking into purchasing a 2nd generation Scion xB. I really like the design of the 2nd generation and would like to purchase one soon to keep for a long time.
Three months ago, I had a 2006 scion xb release series and I absolutely loved it. It had the 1.5 liter engine and absolutely nothing was wrong with the vehicle but I've sold it last month to purchase my all time dream car, a 2010 Lincoln town car signature limited that I am currently daily driving and will keep for many years to come.
However, I really do miss my scion xB and been coming up with funds to hopefully purchasing another one.
I want to purchase a 2nd generation Scion xB but I am very worried about the oil consumption issue they had, especially in the 2.4 liters. My question is, did they use the 2.4 liter engine in all of the 2nd generation Scion xb's. I know there is a 1.5 liter engine, a 1.8 liter, and the 2.4 liter engine that you want to avoid but I don't know if they mixed the engines in the scion or dedicated the 2.4 liter engine to the second generation.
Sorry for the paragraphs, I have a habit of explaining instead of just asking the question. I appreciate your time in reading this!
In Toyota's Japanese market, it was called the Toyota Corolla Rumion and the Toyota Rukus for Australia. The Japanese version had the 1.5 I4 and 1.8 I4. If you're worried about the oil consumption then I would look at something else.
I'm pretty sure all the mark 2 Xbs had the 2.4, The good news is that oil burning was mostly a 08-10 problem, and the other years are pretty OK, except for 12 models and their paint.
