Scotty!
I have a 2010 Scion tC, I almost broke 200k miles before the engine blew, I was putting oil in this car almost every other day it seemed. The mechanic said I had rod knock, it totally turned off and failed while my girlfriend was driving it 75 mph on the highway. I maintained the car for the ten years I had it so I was confused until I watched your “avoid these 3 engines like the plague” video. I was questioning Toyota reliability for sure. I was quoted first 9k for a jasper engine installed, and second 3500 for a used engine installed. My question is, new engine same old issues? Does Toyota owe me a new engine?
Toyota is not going to replace the engine in a 10 year old car with nearly 200,000 miles for freebies.
A used engine is likely to have the same problem as your original one. The car is not worth the cost of the Jasper engine.
