Headlights go out after two seconds

Scotty, I am down in Florida for the cold weather and something weird happened to my 2006 Volvo S60 (146000 miles) When I put the key in it and turn it to the ON position the lights come on as normal. When I start the car one of the light goes out after 2 seconds, I figure it could be the ballast but why would it work while the car isn't running and fail when it is?? Any help you could give me would be Greatly Appreciated.

You need to be more specific. What lights are you talking about?

I had the regular lights turned on and put the key in and when I turned it to position 3 but not started the car the light would be on. I read a thread on this forum and didn't realize it could have been the day time running lights. But when I start the car the driver side light goes off after 2,3 seconds and the headlight is off, Totally No Light what so ever. No Daytime running lights or Low beams.
I bought a head light replacement bulb and will swap it out tomorrow and see if it fixes the issue. THANKS for your quick response.

Could this just be the difference between the Daytime running lights coming on and then when started the regular low beams???
