Scotty, found a beautiful 1990 Toyota Celica with 130k miles on it, in great visual condition. Before I go check this out in person, and thoughts about a 1990 one? Automatic transmission this one.
How well are these older Celicas? 1990
How handy are you working on cars? That Celica is over 30 years old. Although they were good reliable cars, any car that old is going to need TLC to keep it going. For starters, any rubber parts that are original (fuel hoses, brake hoses, etc.) will have deteriorated and should be replaced.
If you have to run to a mechanic for every little thing it could get expensive, and many of today's mechanics don't even want to touch pre-OBD2 cars like that one.
Ditto @chucktobias
Think of it more as a classic hobby car than a practical daily driver. If you are ready to do the work, could be fun and may even gain value in the next 5-10 years. But you need to be realistic about what you’re getting.
