Hey Scotty I'm a future entrepreneur I have always loved cars and always researched many different cars. And i have always seen one thing there is always one thing that almost ruins a car. I want to make a car or car company that has 0 compromises. I want the sportiness of a acura nsx the reliability of a toyota and the safety of a Volvo. As someone that has seen many car companies fail and succeed. What are the most common mistakes that small car companies have/do.
The main issue I have seen is to not deliver the promised product. Elio motors is a good example. The advertised car was appealing, seemed like a great idea, but after millions were invested nothing so far has ever come of it. I'm not sure if it was intentional fraud, bad management, or just ineptitude.
I don't know if it is possible for a small manufacturer so create what you are thinking about, but one thing I've often wondered is why there aren't many places that offer affordable conversions so you get an awesome vehicle. For example, take a Toyota Corolla as a base, put an awesome looking body on it, and have something that looks like a supercar that will be extremely reliable. I'd just about give my left arm for a corolla based Lancia Stratos looking car. I realize there are lots of kit cars and such out there, but nothing completed is very affordable (if it is quality).
