Scotty warned us about Oil Change BS

2008 Ford Expedition EL, 60,000 miles.

I know Scotty told us, in his videos, that a simple thing like oil change is just a open invitation for repair fraud.  Dummy me gave in and went to a place I had never had problems with. Had the "wiper fluid" warning light on but it will not reset.  I needed a oil change so I gave in and was going to have them check the wiper light and do oil change.  Bad mistake.

Maybe it is a new mechanic or something but now I have a bump on the floorboards that sounds like a flopping tailpipe.  Happens even on slower speed and small bumps.  Guess I'll have to get down there myself.  Since car has so few miles on it I hate to get rid of it but the thought crosses my mind.

Just kicking my butt for my own stupidity.

Hello,

Sorry to hear your story,

I would suggest bring the car to a reputable garage and ask them to check the issues,

Make sure to tell them to contact you before doing any repair work to your vehicle.

If you do proceed with repairs and the issues was caused by the other shop, go back with your receipt and ask for  recompense.

I hope this helps.

All the Best.

Thanks for the reply. I Never give a shop a blank check for any repair. 🙂

And check their work - I've found my car with the same dirty oil I drove in with, loose tools under the hood. One SOB somehow damaged a tire, then threw the spare on, put the damaged one in the trunk.

Thanks! I will check everything I can get at. They did have the advantage of using the lift and I can't.

You know, thinking about that issue, I remembered going into a secure DOD facility, and the guards had mirrors on a stick to see that I wasn't a nut with a bomb or something on the bottom of the car. I'm wondering about making/getting one of those the next time I shop for a used car.

@glen_stet
Not bad idea for checking the bottom or any hard to see place. I have a extendable mirror in my toolbox and taping it to a longer stick might be better than nothing at all.
