cartridge oil filters Hyundai and Walmart oil change i took my 2013 to Walmart while under warranty to have a record of services i see moor and moor post about they denied my warranty for driveway oil change so have never even seen my filter till now my closest is about 70 miles away on the inside of the filter there is a plastic cage to prevent it from collapsing it fits tight at both ends to make the seal but when u change filters if u dont pull straight out the end of the cage brakes off and stays in cap so now my car is out of warranty and my wife said it started running rough and the oil light came on I was almost excited i was a mechanic for 20+ years before i hade an accident that prevents me from doing it for a living so its do for a service and the oil light came on ill do that first to see if any thing is wrong with filter, housing,or bypass valve the dip stick did not show low after draining the oil i pull the filter cap and the filter is smashed so after looking in cap i see why there is 6 of the plastic cage rings broke off inside covering almost the whole mounting cylinder for the filter in the cap with this in the way u have to smash the filter to get the cap tight so i take the filter cap to walmart to show the manager she tells me the filter was installed and working correctly trying not to start a fight i ask how would you know this she says i grew up on a farm working on equipment and i was a mechanic so i am thinking what shop would let this person work on cars so i ask again she tells me she was a mechanic in the military and worked on the fuel systems on jets now i am not bad mouthing the military at all i was a cannon cocker in the army the 45th the famous THUNDERBIRDS hoorah but i know from working on everything from a camry to a dozer at 1 time or another that no manufacturer would get that into the shop and say that is fine no problem keep up the good work and i tell her and she says it does not matter u broke the blue seal we wont warranty it i have plenty of video of the cap and filter and still have the oil in a new drain pan i wanted to inspect the oil and not have oil contamination when i started looking into the running rough before i saw inside the cap after contacting 3 attorneys and the state bar no one wants to wants the case i do not know if it is Walmart is a difficult or scary place to sue or if there is no money to be made so guess who is holding the bag so my question is do u know anything about this and can u find any helpful information that i can take to court i will have to take them to small claims court but i dont think the judge will just take my job history as i know what this is and why it happened but cant find anything hyundai is not going to tell everyone this is a bad design no filter manufacturer is going to say this part brakes of and stays in housing and walmart has the all knowing blue seal that knows if u brake me u did all this not us any help would be greatly appreciated just giving it a last once over did not add car info its a 2013 hyundai genesis sedan 5.0 r spec 87k 3 months out of warranty not that they would do anything about this but say its a improperly installed oil filter they would not go after walmart for it
It's virtually impossible to parse that impressively dense wall of text. Punctuation marks and paragraph breaks are your friends.
