2009 Mazda MX5 47,000 miles, manual transmission. I am planning to remove the seats to install sound deadener. The workshop manual says to do a seat weight calibration test if you remove the passenger seat. Is this necessary?
Thanks, Reed

It's there to tell the computer if the passenger airbag(s) need to be deployed.
If you have state inspections that can lead to a fail if it's not functioning properly, otherwise it's up to you.
