Seatbelt chime disable

Hey Scotty,

I want to disable the seatbelt reminder chime in my 2016 Ram ProMaster 3500 van I converted to a motorhome. The dealership will not do it and said "It's a law". I'm a retired police officer and informed the dealer it is a law to wear the seatbelt in NC while in a forward motion on the streets or highways and not a law to have a functional chime. They won't disabled the chime. I do wear the seatbelt on the road but not on my farm driveway between my house and workshop. The Ram pickup disable procedure does not work on the Ram ProMaster. I don't want to use the seatbelt extension offered for sale as I don't trust it to work properly in the event of an accident. I had a professional mechanic friend use his shop scan tool to see if he could disable the chime but no luck. Do you know the procedure? Thanks. Sam

Wouldn't it just be easier to, have a old second buckle that you plug in, when driving on your farm and then remove it and put on the proper one with the seat belt when going out on the road?

I wouldn't recommend it but, you could open up the buckle assembly and remove the magnetic switch inside the buckle, which is at the bottom and put a 475ohm resistor and 82 nF capacitor across the wires.

or just fasten the seatbelt behind you
