A friend went to the dealer (yes the dealer) with his 2015 Honda CRV, 100K miles. I’m trying to help him out on whether this is legit or not.
They recommend a whole list of things, including changing out the valve cover gasket. They said the valve cover gasket was seeping.
Below are photos.
If you ask my non-professional DIY opinion, it looks like oil was spilled on top of the valve cover, not seeping from the valve cover gasket. The valve cover gasket area looks dirty, but not from seepage.
But then again, there might be something I don’t know about this specific engine, where it is actually leaking.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Not another dealer victim?
Does not look like a seepage. To confirm what it is, clean it and keep your eyes on it.
Thank you!
You're welcome
Since I don't see any oil residue below the valve cover (gravity being what it is) it appears to be spillage, not seepage. Who did the oil change, Stevie Wonder?
It’s worse than Stevie Wonder, it’s the dealer.
Hahaha. You guys are funny. Thanks for the suggestions.
Careful now @daywalker, someone might report you as "derogatory."
