Sell my '16 Chevy Malibu for an Older, but More Reliable Car

Hello Scotty,

I currently own a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu with 29,000 miles on it. I wanted to sell it (would get around $13,500) and buy myself a mid-2000's Buick or a 2000-2010 Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis from a private party. The reason I want to do this is because insurance will be cheaper and the maintenance on it will be easier and less expensive. I feel I would save more money in the long run and save myself headaches with the current car that I have.

Would you pull the trigger on this?

Thanks!

I think the same sometimes as well. I find that if you take care of the car you have now by changing oil on time, transmission flush when it needs it, and don't pedal to the floor when you accelerate (drive like grandma or grandpa) I think you might just keep that car for a lot longer than you think. I got a 2014 nissan versa with 130,000 miles on it and everyone craps on the car cause of the cvt transmission but I actually take care of the car and it runs the same as it did when I bought it in 2015. So it ultimately up to you but if you baby it it should last for a while.

Thank you Sean,

Appreciate the insight and your perspective. My car has been "babied" since I bought new in 2016. Very Low mileage compared to other '16 Malibus out there! Have lots of thinking to do.
