Hey Scotty, I got a 2005 Isuzu Ascender that I'm replacing the passenger side lower control arm. The bracket part of the arm with the bushings which slides into the frame is whats giving me an issue. There's the 3 bolts that go through the bracket and screw into the frame.
The two bolts on the one side went in without an issue, but the single one on the opposite side does not seem to want to thread back into the hole. I assumed all 3 bolts are the same size but the other two seem to big as they just spin freely while the original one i've tried with atleast attempts to thread back in before losing it's bite.
I guess my question is, where can i buy new bolts? These must be specific frame bolts because i haven't seen anything that looks similar to them online. I've even taken it to my local advanced auto parts store and no luck. And is it safe to drive it a (VERY) short distance to my mechanic with only the one side of the bracket bolted down if i can't resolve the dilemma?
P.S. The reason i'm speaking so specifically of the one bolt that catches is because it the only one that looks more worn than the others. The threads from to bottom of the head to about half way down the shaft are none existent. However, i would think that shouldn't be the reason the bottom end isn't catching, right?
Thanks again Scotty, you're the best.
Those have to be extremely strong bolts and I'm sure that one is worn out pray the threads inside aren't worn too so that the bolt can't get inside cuz the threads are bad too. Any high quality nut and bolt supply house could supply you the strong enough bolt if not buy one from the dealer
