I just recently bought a 2008 Honda CRV EXL with 200k miles for $1200. Mechanically the engine and transmission are great. I hooked up a scan tool to it and found no codes, the engine sounds pretty quiet and the transmission shifts very smooth. I went through a list of fluids and other small things to change out and then I got to the rear struts. I jacked up the rear of the car and put jack stands under the pinch welds and a solid wood ramp under the rear tires. I then jacked up the front of the CRV by the front cross member and as I did that, the rear pinch welds disintegrated and the rear of the CRV fell onto the rear wooden ramps. At the end of this video you can see where the rear pinch welds were.
I ended up putting the jack stands under the rear cross member and using a bottle jack for extra insurance when I changed the rear struts. I would like to change the entire rear suspension like the steering knuckle and upper control arm, but I was wondering if the car is too far gone rust wise and should i just cut my losses with money and work put into it already.
Below is a video of the rear suspension.

it looks unsafe to me. Like Scotty says, always have a vehicle hoisted up and inspected before purchase.
Should have been checked out before purchase. It looks too rusty for anything but the scrapyard.
looks like fender well rust to me water gets trapped in fenders. I would drive it another 10 years and not worry about it framing look fairly solid to me...
