Scotty,
On your recommendation, I bought a 2011 Camry LE automatic and has 192000 now after 2 years of driving it a lot. The only code is C1231 ( faulty speed sensor - which I don’t care about ).I couldn’t be happier. It runs great! One thing though is that it had no rust when I got it but on both sides on the lower quarter panels in front of the front doors , it’s bubbling out and rust is coming through . The dealer must have covered it up somehow but why is that happening with the way Toyota coats their cars? Is it too late to fix it and how much is a good price to fix that?
why is that happening
The car has had nearly 15 years to be exposed to the elements. Some rust would not be unusual, especially in areas with salted winter roads.
Is it too late to fix it
Depends on the location and extent of the rust. Photo(s) would be helpful.
how much is a good price to fix that?
Impossible to say other than it will be expensive. That kind of work is labor intensive, and labor is $$$$. So is paint work. Also what is visible to you is probably just the tip of the iceberg. We have no way of knowing what body shops in your area are charging, but probably somewhere between $150 and $200 per hour, plus materials. (Many shops won't even do rust work since it is difficult to guarantee. Rust never sleeps.)
