Hi this is my first post to really annoying and epensive issue.
I have a 2010 Ford Transit 2,5 Liter Manual European Model 307.000 Kilometer
at around 305.000 Kilometer the serpentin belt was comin loose.
1 incident The Mechanic of my just installed a new one with a new belt tensioner
2. The Belt comes loose and got cut into 2 peaces at around 1000 Kilometer. The mechanic just put on a new belt.
3. The Belt comes of again at around 1200 Kilometer after driving a steep hill heavy loaded. The Mechanic thoight its a faulty Tensioner so he repleaced it, also put on a new belt.
4. Now the Belt is coming off once again.
I checked all the pulleys they are fine. I checked if its misslined but no everything is straight. The Mechanic dont know what zobdo so do iin total the belt cut twice and also twice it didnt cut so i come loose in one peace.
If it is a manual tensioner, odds are that it has not been adjusted correctly.
Per the rockauto.com database the U.S.-specification 2010 Transit Connect uses an automatic spring-loaded tensioner but of course the Euro model may be different.
If all the pulleys are good and aligned and the tensioner is good there may be some belt-driven accessory (such as alternator, power steering pump, water pump, AC compressor, whatever is there) putting a higher load on the belt system than it is designed for. Are the belts being installed OEM or at least from a leading brand like Goodyear or Continental?
The beginning of this video reminded me, make sure to check that your harmonic balancer is not wobbling all over the place and throwing the belt off.
